LEGO - UCS Millennium Falcon - A Builder’s Tale (PART 3)

Falcon Build Progress Report #3: The Danger and Paranoia of Failing Eyesight

Today was another slough. There were no major assembly errors. But there was more than an hour lost searching. The first search was for a piece I almost junked in the recycle after it stuck inside the bag (I could have sworn I checked each bag 9 times but I guess not). Happily the brick was found and the build resumed. Second was for a piece misused on a wrong step. This was still exposed so it was easily swapped for the correct bit. Finally was a piece that I suppose truly was missing. The Lego Gods were so kind as to give me two lucky passes that I suppose I had a penance for my errors on the 3rd. I will have to either order or perhaps beg upon floor-scuffed knees to a Lego Store benefactor to grant me my missing morsel. I may weep for good measure. It was one the very last steps of Bag(s) 3. We will see if I continue tomorrow. My OCD is screaming to find the missing piece first. I spent an unreasonable amount of time with a portable work light looking under sofa sections, tables, everywhere… In terms of advancement we added a smuggling compartment, the crew rest area complete with computer station and holo monster chess, the boarding ramp (which took time to get correct when placing on the body of the Falcon), and put some of the stickers on. I love Lego but I really wish they wouldn’t ask me to stick on stickers. I hate that. My fingers are too clumsy and they always go on crooked, especially once I’ve got caffeine in my system. Ah well. We also added Chewie and 3PO as well as two Porgs to the crew. That’s it for today. Thanks for reading.
