LEGO - UCS Millennium Falcon - A Builder’s Tale (PART 5)

Falcon Build Progress Report #5: You Weren’t Missing Pieces Today; You Just Built It Wrong… Again:

Man there are some projects where you say to yourself. OK, I made that mistake; you know what you need to do to avoid making that mistake again; so just make sure you follow your own checklist. And you do! And you still screw up. And not in a new way which would at least prove informative but in a classic way that just makes you facepalm yourself. But that’s life on the Kessel Run I guess when your eyes don’t function optimally (I really should hit up my optometrist). And yet again we were on a near last move of the build session. Anywho, today saw engine and aft bottom hull assembly with a healthy dose of fevered paranoia for missing bricks brought on by last week’s frenetic search party in my living room and even more healthy dose of caffeination this morning (and let’s be honest…while building too…I mean why not make the build more thrilling by having the inner monologue be taken over by imaginary pyromaniac squirrels?). No new character minifigures today but the tubing of the Falcon’s engines in flight is a new piece for me. So that’s always fun. I will admit that my updates don’t seem like much accomplishment. It was Bag(s) numbered 5 today. I am getting stuff done but even I’ll admit that it doesn’t look like much more has been done since update #2 and the addition of the landing struts. But it’s at least 400-600 pieces per session so we are certainly chipping away. Almost a step 400 in the manual. In conclusion we got it done. We were wearing a Hawaiian shirt. We cursed. We squinted a butt-ton. We lamented our age, our eyes, our brains, the light, and a thousand other unimportant things while the squirrels danced around their cranial bonfire.
