LEGO - UCS Millennium Falcon - A Builder’s Tale (PART 7)

Falcon Build Progress Report #7: I can apparently converse and build Lego simultaneously. The crowd goes mild

I approached today’s session with all the usual panicked energy that comes with my Saturdays but added a new dimension. A family dinner with my parents over. I found out that I can build and talk at the same time. Granted today’s build was not some major structural piece or highly detailed finishing panel. It’s had to tell in the photos but if you look at last Sunday’s build I added the framework for the front mandibles. Now those mandibles have bottoms. Not a huge feat but oddly finicky to install once ready. The challenge today was pin alignment. If all 6-9 pins on each bottom panel was not perfectly aligned we had a no go. The first went in no problems. The second needed a couple of minor adjustments before finally snapping into place. But it was short and sweet and we were eating by 6pm. I did endure some clack for how I organize myself for building. My mother felt it was too chaotic. That’s ok. Lego is my little slice of something going according to plan in a life of most plans going out the window. It I couldn’t tell my sainted mother that. It would have, well, not broken her heart, but reaffirmed her general disappointment and overall disapproval of me as a person.
