LEGO - UCS Millennium Falcon - A Builder’s Tale (PART 8)

Falcon Build Progress Report #8: Another small Build. Another missing piece on order. Another day of needing to compare two closeups to notice progress.

Today saw no major panels or framework. Today was arguably the first day of detailing. You’ll have to look at yesterday’s photo to notice but today added the mechanical fittings inside mandibles and some small bottom panels to the mid and aft of the Falcon. It was quick and logical and was only really interrupted by the discovery of yet another actually missing piece. I managed to locate a quick spare but I have had to issue yet another spare(s) from Lego. Aside from a missing brick today’s challenge was, again, fitting. Not so much on alignment like yesterday but on getting the panels to “look” like they fit. They looked off to me but my eyesight is itself quite suspect. So there was quite a bit of squinting to see if my build faithfully emulated the box’s flawless Falcon and the instructions. Reasonable success achieved I think. I also think what might throw most people is that each build session is 300-400 pieces. It may look the same as yesterday but there is actually 300-400 more bricks added. We are about 100 steps forward on the weekend overall (maybe 150). And yet it looks substantially the same. The Falcon is like Vegas. No matter how many bricks I add it seems to make no progress. This Lego has thus far eaten the bricks so far added. Like it has bottomless brick stomach. Perhaps next week will yield more visually substantive results
