LEGO - UCS Millennium Falcon - A Builder’s Tale (PART 9)
Falcon Build Progress Report #9: The Middle of the Build. And the Introspection No One Wanted or Asked Fpr
Today was build session #9 of an estimated 17 (although I may try to pare this down to 16). It saw me attack bag(s) marked #9 and saw me get past step #700 of about 1,400. I can, with some comfort, say we have hit the middle. This was a quiet and none to extensive session. I think we’re getting close to finishing the mandibles as I added the top plates. Thankfully, in the end, I finally got used to working on the mandibles and so today saw a lot less frustration than last weekend in terms of figuring out fit when completing the plates and specific piece placement. I did realize at the end that, for once, I had too many pieces by the time I was done and needed to make a quick addition to some supporting underpinnings to one of the plates. I have a sneaking suspicion that I am not done discovering pieces that need ordering because they are missing either. That’s the special sauce self-destructive paranoia that I bring to the activity that I continually laud as being a place where I am oddly calm (another one is going very fast in cars i can’t actually afford - calm only where there is some impending sense of danger). Man, when the build doesn’t yield a lot of visual stimulus which we can then discuss these posts get uncomfortably introspective don’t they… I guess I should build faster or else everyone is going to get carjacked on this unwanted journey of Georges’ self-discovery…. Anyways - look up to see a close up on the progress! The attention to detail by the designers really is quite something… (awkward end of post) stay safe and don’t do drugs everyone!
